If you were to ask the average person which American state holds the crown for best barbecue, chances are they’ll list places in the midwest or the south.  Texas is in the upper echelons alongside the likes of Missouri and Tennessee.  But New York is nothing if not scrappy however, particularly when its foodtopia title is threatened!  John Stage and his two partners started offering bikers and patrons in Albany, NY a good plate of barbecue comfort in 1983 and thus, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que was born.  Today, Dinosaur Bar-B-Cue has a home in nine different locations in the northeast, including West Harlem near the Hudson River.

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que gives city slickers and tourists a taste of what rural folk have been trying to explain for years—the comforting joys of easy living.  While their menu boasts traditional down home Southern barbecue, Dinosaur certainly isn’t shy about embracing other influences.  The result is food with a distinct character that has been lauded in national publications and various Food Network and Travel Channel shows.

Dishes are moderately priced and the West Harlem establishment boasts an undeniably rodeo type of feel.  Swing by on Tuesday night for karaoke or Friday and Saturday evenings for live music and some comforting Southern hospitality with a Northeast vibe!
