Keeping it Classy:
Upscale Bowling in NYC
There’s no way around it: the price to bowl in New York is damn near unconscionable. Like, seriously. But once you recover from the nauseating experience of parting with your hard-earned cash to throw a weighted ball at oddly shaped objects while wearing highly unfashionable footwear, you eventually register the fact that, at least in the Big Apple, you’re also paying for an “experience.” And if there’s one thing New York delivers in spades, it’s an experience! So here are a few swanky suggestions for your next group outing to play this non-sport sport!

Hidden inside Port Authority you’ll find Frames. This bowling ally is up as upscale as it comes – leather couches, a chic bar, glowing lights and of course pricey cocktails! Bowling here can be pretty costly, $60-$75 per hour per lane, but as many as 7 bowlers can chip in at once. Just remember, this isn’t a run of the mill bowling alley so dress to impress. Dress code is enforced!

Bowlmor Chelsea Piers offers much more than the other guys. Aside from bowling you can enjoy laser tag, ropes, ping pong and arcade games. Bolwmorr is equipped with 40 state of the art lanes, as well as a private bowling suite with 8 lanes, and an elevated loft with a private lounge and bar. If that’s not enough for you, how about hosting a meeting in one of their CONFERENCE ROOMS! Yes, we are being fo’real.

Lucky strike is great if you’re looking for a swanky deal. From Monday – Wednesday, 8pm to close, they offer a “Bottomless Bowl” special: $22 all you can bowl (includes bowing, billards and ping pong). If you want an even bigger deal, go for their happy hour beforehand – half off food specials and half off well drinks and domestic beers. You can catch this offer 3-7pm Monday to Friday or 10pm – midnight Sunday to Wednesday.
61 Wythe Ave
Williamsburg, Brooklyn 11211
If you’re looking for something with a little more edge head to Brooklyn Bowl. This place combines bowling with music! On most nights Brooklyn Bowl offers live concerts. So you can bowl to some awesome tunes, or just jam out with a beer. If you decide to bowl, lanes run $20 per lane per half hour Monday – Wednesday and $25 per lane Thursday – Sunday. If you want an extra deal (50% off), go on a Sunday and mention the “Sunday Special” at the door.
200 North 14th Street
Williamsburg, Brooklyn 11211
The Gutter is definitely our favorites on this list! With vintage wooden lanes and decor, it’s much more laid back than the places mentioned above. Lanes run $7 per game, $40 per hour (Mon – Thu), $45 (F-Sat-Sun) and you can rent shoes for $3 bucks! The best part is you can bring your own food! Just make sure to leave any kids at home as they are not allowed in!
