Best Burger Spots In Midtown

New York does many things well and burgers are definitely high on that list! Knowing where to get a succulent, juicy patty can be quite a task but never fear, friends! As Chief Burger Connoisseur (C.B.C.), I was deployed to scout for the absolute best burger in midtown.  After extensive comparative analysis with other burger aficionados in the office, we compiled a shortlist of the very best burgers midtown has to offer.  Bon appetit!

Best Burger Spots in Midtown

 Burger Joint

Best Burger Spots in Midtown

119 W 56th St (between 6th and 7th ave) Manhattan, NY 10019 (212) 708-7414

Tucked away behind a black curtain inside the upscale Le parker Meridian Hotel lies one of New York’s most famous burger spots. Aptly named, Burger Joint is a no frills venue that offers simple, yet incredibly tasty burgers in an unexpected location. Happy eating!

Subway: B, D, E to 7th Ave

Smith & Wollensky

smith lowinskys

797 3rd Ave(between 49th and 50th st) Manhattan, NY 10022 (212) 753-1530

Some find it hard to believe that a burger would be the best thing on the menu at a well-to-do steak house. But if the steak is premium, odds are the house-made burger should be good.  Smith & Wollensky serve up a juicy, tender patty with a generous amount of beef. Everyone on the NYC In Your 20s team loved it!  As C.B.C.,  I declare it one of the top five burgers I’ve ever tasted in NYC.

Subway: 6 to 51st – Lexington Ave

Shake Shack

Best Burger Spots in Midtown

691 8th Ave (between 44th and 43rd st) Manhattan, NY 10036 (646) 435-0135

Before you make THAT face, hear me out. This Shake Shack is located in the middle of the theatre district and a good stop before or after seeing a Broadway show.  And yes, lines tend to be long, often snaking outside onto the side walk. But!  Shake Shack made our list because of their Shack Stack. Listen. To. Me. The Shake Stack is an unconventional burger consisting of two cheeseburgers and a ‘shroom burger topped with lettuce, tomato, and Shack Sauce. Sounds crazy, but it tastes insanely good!! Be prepared to massacre your idealistic calorie limits!

Subway: A, C, E to 42nd St

Whitman’s at City Kitchen

City Kitchen at Row NYC, 700 8th Avenue at 44th Street, Manhattan, NY 10036

No true burger lover’s list would be complete without the inclusion of Whitman’s.  Truthfully, their burgers tend to be on the smaller size but a little goes a long way!  They’ve got a number of burger variations to offer (their Juicy Lucy is popular) but I strongly recommend the PB&B.  Sweet, creamy peanut butter and thick, crispy, salty bacon are perfectly complemented by a juicy, flavorfully charred beef patty… Mmmmmmmm!  So glad the waiter recommended it as it’s now one of my favorite burgers period!
