Beyonce Superbowl Backlash

Beyonce Super Bowl Backlash:
Uncalled For

Following her Super Bowl halftime performance, Beyonce has once again turned the media on its head. This time it wasn’t the music industry and fans, but conservatives like Rudy Giuliani and Fox News. If you’ve read our feelings on Beyonce’s Formation video you probably think we agree with them, but that’s far from it. Yes, we disagree with the pairing of her lyrics and imagery of her music video, but we by no means condone the comments made by Fox News and Former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani.
If you missed it, check out the video below.

We can make a long list poking fun of how ridiculous this is, but there’s nothing funny about this. We expect all kinds of nonsense from Fox News, but Political leaders like Rudy Giuliani have a responsibility to unite people not divide them. Making false accusations such as, “she used it as a platform to attack police officers who are the people who protect her and protect us, and keep us alive,” is not only foolish, it’s dangerous. Comments like these perpetuate hate and anger. Having her backup dancers resemble the Black Panthers, was not an attack on police officers. It was simply a choice.

One that would remind people of where they’ve been and how far they’ve come. And now we’re reminded once again of how far we have to go. That being said, whatever your thoughts on the Black Panthers are, let’s remember that they wouldn’t have formed if there wasn’t a need.
