One of New York’s oldest establishments, the legendary Katz’s Delicatessen is a kosher, cash-only restaurant known for their heartily stuffed sandwiches. And they are the real, mother-effing deal! They take great pleasure and a considerable amount of time (almost 30 days) to sloooooooowly cure their corned beef and pastrami until they are bursting with flavor.  There’s absolutely no comparison between their corned beef and the commercially-produced version of the same, so you know you’re getting something that is both very special and totally delicious.  Just be advised that you should be VERY prepared to order when it’s your turn to be served in line… As with many New York delis, the servers mean business!

The restaurant’s long interior is not fancy… In fact, the decor falls within the no-frills cafeteria style category. But that sense of deja vu you experience while wandering inside is not (just) from your high school days.  It’s also because Katz’s Delicatessen is the iconic location of the fake orgasm scene made famous by Meg Ryan as ‘Sally’ from the film, “When Harry Met Sally.”  There’s even a sign on the table where Ryan and Billy Crystal sat which reads, “Where Harry met Sally…hope you had what she had.”

Having been a staple of the Lower East Side since 1888, Katz’s Deli will open the doors of its very first outpost in Downtown Brooklyn in City Point Shopping Mall (on the corner of Flatbush and Fulton Street) in April 2017. But we think nothing will beat the Manhattan original!
