NYC Summer Streets

NYC Summer Streets

If you’re a New Yorker than you know that many NYC residents share the same guilty pleasure, walking in the middle of an empty street. It’s fun and incredibly freeing but unfortunately it never lasts long enough!

Lucky for us there are 3 days out of the year in which we can indulge in a 7 mile stretch of empty streets. This event is of course none other than NYC Summer Streets!

Modeled after summer events in Columbia and France, NYC Summer Streets is an annual celebration that promotes healthy living. For 6 hours people can run, bike and play on an empty Park Avenue. The event starts on 72nd street and Park Avenue and ends at the Brooklyn Bridge.

Along the path there will be 5 resting stops with plenty of activities. Some of the things you can look forward to are free yoga at SoHo, a walking tour at the Uptown stop, arts and crafts at Astor Place and much more. If that isn’t enough, sign up for this years BIGGEST attraction, a 270 foot water slide at the Foley Square stop!
