Spruce and Bond UES Review
1441 2nd Avenue
New York, NY 10021
There are two things that I fear most in life: haircuts and eyebrow waxing. So imagine the anxiety I feel when my bangs grow out, and a new hair appears along my brow line! Thankfully I’ve been able to find a solution to my eyebrow problems, and it goes by the name of Spruce and Bond.
Spruce and Bond have several locations throughout the city but my loyalty will always be with the Upper East Side location. The space is small but you can’t beat the people, especially my new brow specialist, Aurora.
When I first walked in I was greeted by a staff member. They immediately handed me a tablet where I proceeded to enter my information. As soon as I finished filling out my information, they emailed me a copy of my signed waiver. Once we got the business stuff out of the way I was escorted to my seat at the Browlab.
The Browlab was located at the front of the shop, right by the windows. This was a little shocking because i’m used to private dimly lit rooms with scolding pots of wax. I quickly warned Aurora that I have SUPER sensitive skin that turns blood red after an eyebrow wax. Hint. Hint. Take me to the back where no one can see me! She smiled and said don’t worry, we don’t use wax on eyebrows. That’s when I looked over at the table and saw a pair of scissors, tweezers and cotton balls.
Then she asked me about my brows, which surprised me because no one has ever cared. I told her my history which consisted of bad experiences and a patch of hair that refused to grow back! She laughed and then got straight to work. Less than ten minutes later she looked at me and said she was done. How could this be possible? I barely felt a pluck and was close to falling asleep at one point.
When I looked in the mirror I was shocked! For the first time in 28 years, someone did my eyebrows without waxing my face off or threading me to tears! My brows looked natural, full and that missing patch of hair was fixed. At first I thought that she did some miracle toupee thing, but what she actually did was brush my eyebrows to hide the missing hair. Why didn’t I think of that?
Overall, this was the best eyebrow experience I’d ever had. The staff are incredibly nice, the space is clean and modern, and I have FINALLY found my new eyebrow guru!
Believe me it’s hard to find someone you trust with your face, but Spruce and Bond UES has fully won me over. I may even go back and try a laser treatment!
