Summergarden at MoMA
Museum of Modern Art
11 West 53rd Street
New York, NY 10019
Since 1971 the Museum of Modern Art have dedicated themselves, to exposing the community to jazz and classical music. Of course don’t expect MoMA to do anything traditionally! The venue isn’t your usual jazz bar or concert hall, it’s a garden – a sculpture garden to be exact!
If you appreciate small details, you’ll notice the amount of thought that went into Summergarden. The musicians play against a backdrop of windows, which naturally change color and depth as the sun goes down. One would think that the honking and hustle of the city would seep through the garden, but the music successfully drowns it out.
This year you can look forwarded to the sounds of The Juilliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center. The concert is a series of exciting contemporary music titled, New Music for New York.
For those of you who have never experienced Summergarden, you’re in for a treat! So stop by the bar, grab a drink and/or a snack and enjoy this awesome event! Just make sure to get there early because seating is limited.
