Untamed Sandwiches Review
43 West 39th Street, New York, NY 10018
Fewer things in life are more indulgent… more sexy… more irresistibly mesmerizing than braising. When a cut of meat is lovingly marinated in herbs and spices and then gently coaxed to tender perfection over a long, slow cooking time allowing it to bathe in the flavorful juices… Ohhhhh sorry, excuse the drooling.
The team at Untamed Sandwiches understand the importance of taking their time, and by using sustainable ingredients, the results are impressive. Moreover, they share the love of low and slow with their veggies AND meats, so foodies from all walks of life can partake in the deliciousness. The Frere Jacques sandwich is downright scrumptious: port wine braised beef brisket, caramelized onions, gruyere cheese, whole grain mustard and tobacco onions nestled in a 7” ciabatta roll. The Butt sandwich is equally heavenly: cider braised pork butt, broccoli rabe, pepper jelly, dijon mustard and sharp cheddar. The rosemary limeade was too potent for our tastebuds, but if you dig strong rosemary flavors, you’ll love it. Their raspberry lemonade however, is right on the money in terms of sweet and tart balance. And the customer service can’t be beat with staff who clearly love what they do. Then again, when you’re surrounded by that much food porn… We get it.
We have yet to try Untamed Sandwiches after a night of epic intoxication but from the description of some of their breakfast offerings (Ol Grumpy comes with soft scrambled eggs, grass-fed beef chili, pimento cheese, hot jam, cilantro and the Jacquelyn Park consists of eggs sunny side up, that mouthwatering cider braised pork, cheddar, dilly beans, black pepper aioli), we are confident that they are also, completely hangover proof.
